Good news for OnePlus fans in India, you can now buy OnePlus One without invite in India. OnePlus is holding the first ever open sale of their handset. It is to be held tomorrow 10 AM (February 10 2015). The sale is not like a flash sale, the sale will go on for 24 hours. OnePlus had conducted similar open sales in limited countries for Christmas and Black Friday earlier.
As usual, the phone will be sold via Amazon India, and they commented on this as, “The sale would be for limited quantity which is expected to stock out quickly given the high demand for the phone”. So the phone is available on short quantities and better be quick on buying.
The company announced this good news stating that they have successfully completed 10 weeks in India. They announced in January that they have sold more than 1 million smartphones, but they haven’t stated the exact number.
Just to refresh, the phone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, paired with 3 GB RAM. The display being a 5.5 inch 1080p one, and comes with Cyanogenmod 11 (Oxygen OS Lollipop update scheduled). The version available in India is 64 GB Sandstone black version, which is on sale for Rs 21,999 ($355 approx).
Looks like OnePlus is really desperate about the Mi 4 launch, and I have reported that OnePlus have been sending out invites on massive level. I myself have received 19 invites last week (read about this here). This shows that OnePlus is really desperate about the Xiaomi Mi 4. Both is having similar specs, but with the brand reputation of the Xiaomi now it has in India.
The company have been through much in India, from broken relationship with Cyanogen to being banned in India (Yureka being the reason of both). I think they are feeling the heat and now and in my opinion, they should make the sale as the invite system is a complete non sense, and the company could even go for flash sales like Xiaomi’s, it would be better.
What is your opinion on this? Are you going to buy OnePlus One on tomorrow’s open sale? Let me know by commenting below!
